WHITE SOX ANNOUNCE 2008 BROADCAST SCHEDULE
CHICAGO � The Chicago White Sox, Comcast SportsNet, WGN-TV, WCIU-TV and WSCR Radio (670 AM) have announced the team's television and radio broadcast schedules for the 2008 season.
Comcast SportsNet (CSN) televises 101 regular-season White Sox games, starting with Opening Day on Monday, March 31 at Cleveland (2:05 p.m. CT). CSN also will televise the White Sox home opener on Monday, April 7 vs. Minnesota (3:05 p.m. CT). WCIU televises 25 White Sox games, starting with the club's second game of the season at Cleveland on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:05 p.m., while WGN starts its 29-game White Sox schedule at Detroit on Friday, April 4 at 12:05 p.m. Three White Sox games air nationally as part of the FOX Saturday "Game of the Week" schedule, beginning on April 5 at Detroit (2:55 p.m. CT).
Flagship radio station WSCR Radio, featuring the broadcast team of 17-year radio veteran and former Sox pitcher Ed Farmer on play-by-play and former Sox outfielder Chris Singleton on color commentary, will broadcast all 162 regular-season White Sox games. Univision Radio's La Tremenda (WRTO 1200 AM) has extended their agreement for a fourth consecutive season to broadcast approximately 40 White Sox home games.
The tandem of Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Darrin Jackson begins its 10th season together, calling 155 regular-season White Sox games on Comcast SportsNet, WGN and WCIU. The White Sox televise all 162 games this season with 57 telecasts over-the-air and the other 105 available through cable and satellite systems. All Comcast SportsNet, WGN and WCIU telecasts are expected to be available in high definiton in 2008. The nine games scheduled as Comcast SportsNet Plus (CSN+) games are located on CLTV in the Chicago DMA. Viewers in other areas should visit comcastsportsnet.com for CSN+ channel locations.
WGN airs the first game of the crosstown series against the Chicago Cubs when the White Sox travel to Wrigley Field on Friday, June 20 (1:20 p.m.). CSN televises the middle game on Saturday, June 21 (12:05 p.m.), and ESPN carries the third game as part of its "Sunday Night Baseball" telecast on Sunday, June 22 (7:05 p.m.). When the White Sox host the Cubs June 27-29, WGN televises Friday's game (3:05 p.m.), while Saturday's game airs on FOX (2:55 p.m.). Sunday's game will be televised on CSN with a start time still to be determined.
The White Sox will once again start all weeknight home games at 7:11 p.m., while the FOX games, which air on WFLD locally, begin at 2:55 p.m.
In addition to the April 5 and June 28 games, the other White Sox Saturday telecast on FOX is May 24 vs. the Los Angeles Angels. The White Sox also will appear on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" on April 6 at Detroit and May 25 vs. the Angels. FOX and ESPN also may pick up additional games after the All-Star Break.
