Carl Anderson has been named to the newly created position of senior VP of programming and distribution for ABC Radio Networks. Anderson was hired by the company in 2006 as VP of music programming. He was responsible for overseeing the operations of nine 24-hour formats, eight format specific production libraries and several radio brands.
His promotion comes as the company is combining its programming and affiliate relations departments. By combining the functions of these departments, ABC Radio hopes to accelerate the production of products and bring them to the marketplace more quickly. R&R has confirmed that senior VP of affiliate relations T.J. Lambert has exited the company.
To remain successful in the current environment, we must be willing to take innovative steps and look for different solutions to the challenges facing network radio, said ABC Radio Networks president Jim Robinson. The pairing of our programming and affiliate relations functions reflects our commitment in this area. This allows us to drive our content with increased focus and speed while maximizing opportunities for both advertisers and affiliates in an extremely demanding marketplace.
Anderson, who has also served as PD at WJZW/Washington and MD at WNUA/Chicago, said he was grateful for this opportunity and look forward to advancing our position in network radio. We are focusing our resources on products with the greatest opportunities for return. To be successful, we must ensure our pipeline is full of new products geared toward serving our advertisers, including more offerings focused on the 18-49 demographic. Our overall goal remains to grow our business through calculated, managed risk and always deliver the audiences our partners are trying to reach.
